Behind Fatema Saadehs Traditional Palestinian Henna

There is absolutely nothing more beautiful than a bride to be embracing her heritage and her roots.

This is why Bride to be (at the time) Fatema Saadeh chose a typical Palestinian Henna party for her pre-wedding festivities.

We asked make up artist Fatema about how it came together and how her day went, even though there was a few unexpected turn of events but Fatema still shined through and made it a day to remember.

Here is what she had to say:

Where did the idea of the theme come from?

From the get go I had my heart set on a traditional Palestinian Henna party cause I wanted something to celebrate my traditions and my root.

I told my friends and family that whatever we do and however we decide to celebrate it has to be a true Palestinian henna Party.

Where did you get your Thobe and headdress from?

I got my Thobe from Intesar Abdo, and it was custom made along with my Palestinian headdress

How did you Choose your location?

I searched everywhere for a place that will give me the authentic vibes I was looking for, and we ended up doing it at Mijana in the top floor, absolutely fell in love with the way they decorated the space and decided to do it there.

We heard something interesting happened on the day of your henna, and caused you to have an impromptu photo shoot, what happened?

Well I obviously planned that morning very well :) I decided it would be a good idea to get my nails done the morning of my henna party, and they were super important as they were going to be the nails I have on my wedding day.

I was delayed at the nail salon, and of course since I am a make up artist I was going to do my own make up!

When I got home everyone was waiting for me and it made me super nervous as we were rushing to get to the citadel for the photo shoot

So I called my photographer and she said we wouldn't have time to do it the way I wanted to.

But nonetheless my sister came to the rescue, since he has a background in production and didn't want me to be upset since shooting in daylight is my absolute favorite, so she actually managed to take us up to our houses roof and did a full photo shoot there.

What are some of the activites you had going on at your Henna?

And of course we had all of the traditional activities from Dabkeh, traditional henna where we brought in a traditional henna specialist that did it for us

Thank you to the lovely couple for sharing some of those details with us, wishing them a lifetime of love and happiness.
